Bill Hoberg

Bill HobergBill Hoberg was born and raised in Ortonville, MN. He graduated from South Dakota State University where he studied agriculture and was a member of the football team. Bill was a vocational agriculture instructor at Benson High School for four years. He then went into banking where he has been for 33 years. Presently, Bill is a vice president and loan officer for the State Bank of Danvers. His wife, Judy, is a retired nurse. They have two sons and five grandchildren.  Bill and Judy participated in Telelaget’s 2007 Telemark Tour, which they enjoyed immensely. Bill is currently working on a family history.

Bill is the great-grandson of Halvor Halvorson, born November 11, 1841, in Hitterdal (Heddal), Norway.  Halvor studied under a preacher/teacher named Kyllingstad at the Haaberg farm near Notodden. In 1860 he immigrated to America and in 1863 married Olea Ericksdtr in Blue Mound WI.  THey had nine chidlren.  The first two were baptized as Halvorson.  Bill's grandfather, Erick (child number three) was baptized with the surname Haaberg.  By the time the alst children were baptized the name had become Hoberg.  Bill's grandfather Erick Hoberg farmed near Montevideo MN.
