Additional Information:  Ole Sørensen, son of Søren Christensen and Ingeborg Pedersdatter, grew up on a farm called Skomakerplass in Åshammer, Gjerpen, Telemark. He married Anne Christiansdatter on 1 November 1844 at the Gjerpen Kirke. They had six children: Ingeborg Sofie, Maren Kirstine, Inger Karine, Søren, Hans Christian and  Isak. Ole and his wife Anne and their six children left Norway from Porsgrunn, Norway on April 19, 1868 on the Ship Laurdal (P. M. Petersen) and arrived in the port of Quebec on June 8, 1868. They later traveled by rail to Fillmore County, Minnesota to stay with Ole's brother. Shortly after their arrival in the U. S., Ole and family traveled west to Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota near Montevideo. Ole built his first home out of sod and dirt walking across the prairie to Montevideo to buy the necessary tools to build a home.
